After thoroughly reading the poem Ars Poetica, many phrases and words have been brought to my attention perhaps through the authors style and tone. The author chooses to separate the poem into couplets and use depressing tone words to create a rather somber tone of voice to the story. Within the poem, the author varies between real life and personification to reveal a hidden message to the story. The author gave me these impressions by including certain words and phrases for instance, "dumb" and "motionless", and as for personifying objects, he did so by stating "as the moon climbs" and much more.
I feel as though the author did a good job with his structure and the inclusion of rhyme, alliteration, and personification to create a sense of imagery and grab the attention of the reader. Throughout the authors message, he used many key words that would attract the audience and to make the poem interesting. He included end rhyme which is very typical in most poems, and as a reader, it makes the work more enlightened and attractive. Through the multiple use of m's in one line or s's, the poem constantly kept me interested to find out what's next. As for the separation after every 4 couplets, it was confusing, yet the author was most likely trying to display a change in subject or idea. Overall, Archibald Macleish did a very good job at constructions the poem all though the true meaning of it is not clear.
